1. Enjoy the beach at Lake Anna State Park
$10 per car, $3 for beach.
There are many activities available inside Lake Anna State Park, but perhaps the simplest is going to the beach. You’ll enter the state park and follow the map to the beach area. It can get really crowded, especially in the afternoon. Before entering the beach area, you’ll need to stop at the store to purchase a wristband to enter the beach. Once inside, enjoy the sand and swim in the calm waters of Lake Anna.
2. Lake Anna Winery
$20 a bottle
Local cuisine and beverages are something I always look for when traveling. Lake Anna Winery is located just outside Lake Anna State Park, making it an easy stop before or after your visit. They often use a large patio for live music events throughout the spring and summer. If you go on a weekday, you’re almost sure to have the space to yourselves. Try one of their white wines!
3. Grab some food on the Lake at Tim’s at Lake Anna
Tim’s at Lake Anna is a great choice if you’re looking for delicious food while overlooking the lake. It’s located on the water near Mineral, Virginia, and is known for home-cooked seafood, a unique atmosphere, and scenic dining.
4. Rent Kayaks for the Day
$40 for the day
The Rocky Branch Marina and Campground offered kayak rentals, so I went with that option. I’m so glad I did! The marina is located in a cove that is really quiet and easy to kayak around. Call ahead to ensure they still have kayaks available, and they will meet you right by the water! It was a beautiful day and after kayaking, I went for a nice swim off the peer right where we had kayaked.
5. Hike, Fish, and Birdwatch in Lake Anna State Park
$10
Since they are all located inside Lake Anna State Park, I’m lumping them all together. The state park is huge, and you’ll find many different spots for hiking, fishing, and birdwatching.
These are all fun outdoor activities to enjoy year-round. You’ll get a full park map when entering the state park and on their website to find the best spots.
6. Coyote Hole Ciderworks
$8
Hard cider is produced by Coyote Hole Ciderworks using only Virginia apples. It’s located in the heart of Lake Anna in Mineral, Virginia. They have a large tasting room and enjoy food trucks, live music, events, family games, and more during the summer. They also have a great outdoor space for enjoying a drink!
